Making Sense of Everything with Integral Theory
107 mins | The Stoa on YouTube
I’m grateful that we are alive at the same time as Ken Wilber—arguably one of the greatest living philosophers who has published ~30 books over the last ~50 years. His Integral Theory is one of the most holistic philosophies I’ve come across to date.
Pair with: “A Theory of Everything” by Ken Wilber (Book Summary) & “The Integral Vision” by Ken Wilber (Book Summary)
“We have gone through incredible specialization and division of knowledge and the separation of fields … My one common theme in all 30 books I’ve written is there has to be an integral drive hidden in there somewhere. Evolution is a process of transcending and including … There is a drive toward an integral capacity in our world. And, that’s what I would simply like us to keep in mind.” — Ken Wilber
⚔️ Timeless Wisdom
The 36 Stratagems
2 hrs | YouTube Playlist
I’ve heard Daniel Schmachtenberger, holistic systems thinker and co-founder of The Consilience Project, mention the 36 Stratagems in multiple podcasts now. Perhaps you’re familiar with The Art of War by Sun Tzu? Either way, why care about ancient Chinese military strategy today? Because many of the same principles still apply—not just to visible warfare, but to invisible warfare (dis/misinformation, propaganda, etc). It seems critically important in a modern information society to understand how your mind can be used against you so you can better protect yourself. In other words, it’s time to develop a stronger “memetic immune system.”
“We are living on the battlefield of an information war … Peoples’ minds are the battlefield, the treasure that is trying to be achieved, and also the weapons.” — Daniel Schmachtenberger

Timeline of the Human Condition
University of Southampton
This single page lists probably around 1,000 milestones in evolution and history! Scroll to the very bottom of the page for the legend. Is every milestone completely accurate? Of course not—we are learning more as time goes on, and some things will be forever lost to history. Still mind-boggling to skim through nonetheless!
“Rescaled to a calendar year, starting with the big bang at 00:00:00 on 1 January, the Sun forms on 1 September, the Earth on 2 September, earliest signs of life appear on 13 September, earliest true mammals on 26 December, and humans just 2 hours before year’s end.”

💭 Deep Thought
Jiddu Krishnamurti’s secret:
- “I don’t mind what happens.”
Rupert Spira’s explanation:
- “When Krishnamurti said, ‘I don’t mind what happens,’ he didn’t mean to imply that he did not care. He simply meant that his happiness was not invested in the content of experience.”
PS: Summary of Rupert Spira’s new book “Being Myself” coming soon!
💬 Wise Words
“Whoever is stiff and inflexible is a disciple of death. Whoever is soft and yielding is a disciple of life.” — Lao Tzu
